BOOM Power completes sale of East Yorkshire Solar Farm to AMPYR Solar Europe, marking another milestone in its NSIP development journey.
February 20, 2026
BOOM Power Ltd, a UK-based renewable energy developer, has completed the sale of the East Yorkshire Solar Farm to Ampyr Solar Europe, marking a significant milestone for the project and the next chapter in BOOM Power’s track record of delivering nationally significant renewable energy infrastructure.
East Yorkshire Solar Farm is a major solar development located in East Yorkshire, between the hamlet of Gribthorpe, the villages of Spaldington and Wressle, and the town of Howden. The project will be one of the largest consented solar projects in the UK, with an installed capacity of approximately 530+ MWp and a 400 MW export capacity – enough to power around 100,000 homes, supporting the UK’s energy security and decarbonisation ambitions.
The project received its Development Consent Order (DCO) in May 2025, following several years of detailed technical design, environmental assessment and extensive engagement with landowners, local communities and statutory stakeholders. The sale to Ampyr Solar Europe follows the successful completion of the consenting process and positions the project for delivery. Under a Development Management Services Agreement, BOOM Power will continue to support Ampyr Solar Europe as the project progresses through the next stages of development, construction and energisation.
Mark Hogan, Founder of BOOM Power, said: “East Yorkshire Solar Farm is a flagship project for BOOM Power and reflects years of detailed development work, collaboration and engagement with our valued landowners and partners. Securing DCO consent was a major achievement, and we are proud to have brought the project to this stage. Ampyr Solar Europe is well placed to take East Yorkshire forward into delivery, and we look forward to seeing the project make a meaningful contribution to the UK’s clean energy transition. BOOM Power will continue to be actively involved as the project moves into construction and subsequent energisation, planned for 2029.
This significant commercial outcome with Ampyr Solar Europe follows the earlier sale of Cleve Hill Solar Park to Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners in 2021, which is now fully operational. Together, these projects demonstrate the strength, depth and quality of BOOM Power’s development portfolio and represent more than £600 million of capital investment once fully constructed.”
BOOM Power was advised on the transaction by PKF Francis Clark as exclusive financial adviser, TLT as commercial legal adviser, Bevan Brittan LLP as property legal adviser, Pinsent Masons providing planning legal representation and AECOM as our partners for planning consent.
The East Yorkshire milestone builds on BOOM Power’s broader experience in delivering complex, nationally significant solar infrastructure. Members of the BOOM Power team were previously involved in the development of Cleve Hill Solar Park, the UK’s first solar NSIP to receive consent and, at the time, the largest solar project in the country. Cleve Hill was originally developed under Wirsol Energy, which was established by Mark Hogan in the UK and Australia prior to the formation of BOOM Power.
That experience has informed BOOM Power’s approach to large-scale solar development, including its ongoing work on Fenwick Solar Farm. Fenwick represents the next generation of BOOM Power projects, combining lessons learned from earlier NSIPs with an evolving focus on landscape, ecology, grid integration and community engagement.
Together, East Yorkshire, Cleve Hill and Fenwick reflect BOOM Power’s long-term commitment to developing high-quality, consented renewable energy assets that support the UK’s transition to a low-carbon energy system.
